Abstract
The framework of this congress began some years ago. The energies, sacrifices and frustration of the organising committee were reflected in the superb arrangements made by this committee in both the scientific and social programmes. It followed on the heels of the inaugural General Practice Congress held in Johannesburg in 1978.
