Abstract
Potchefstroom was op 11 Oktober 1993 midde-in 'n gastro-enteritis- 6n 'n waterpokkie-epidemie toe 'n 87- jarige biochemikus telefonies 'n voorskrif versoek vir sy erg brandende "Allergie". Hy het aanvanklik, twee dae vroeer, 'n enkele rooi area op sy bobeen ontdek, en dit as 'n spinnekopbyt beskou. Die "bytplekke" het egter vermenigvuldig en weens die intense pyn, koors en progressiewe swakheid kon hy naderhand beswaarlik staan.
