Abstract

Melanoma has become a common form of cancer. The incidence of melanoma tends to increase with increasing latitude, being low in southern, sunny tropical areas, where dark skins are more prevalent, and high in the north, in temperature areas, where lighter skins predominate because of a higher concentration of descendants of fair-skinned European immigrants.
