Abstract
Healthy professional relationships between doctors are essential for good patient care. A few factors affecting co-operation between the family physician and the consultant in the South African scene are discussed as well as the circumstances influencing the doctor-patient relationship. The value of the health team, includin members of all paramedical professions is emphasised.
