Abstract
Doing strenuous physical exercise during unfavorable weather conditions may cause fatal heat exhaustion and heat-stroke. This problem is avoidable to a large extent if certain preventive and therapeutic precautions are taken. The danger of exercising in warm, moist conditions is accentuated. Doctors involved in sport and physical activities in the sun must have a thorough knowledge of the causes, patho-physiology, diagnosis and treatment of heat injuries some guidelines regarding exercise prescribing for patients are given.
