Abstract
The dispensing doctor uses dispensing of medicines per se, as part of a good doctor-patient relationship. Compliance becomes a natural extension of this interaction. Dispensing medicines to your patient demands the same honest and high ethical standards as the practice of medicine. Buying medicine from the chemist over a counter is on a completely different level. The situation in the RSA in this regard is evaluated.
