The position of the dispensing doctor in relation to the retail pharmacist

Abstract
The cost effectivity of the dispensing doctor in relation to an over-regulated and over supplied number of retail pharmaceutical outlets in South Africa is presented. Suggestions for ensuring the future harmonious and rightful role of dispensing doctors and pharmacists in the health team are made.
