Abstract
Man is being valued in economic terms, being compared to machines and computers (often unfavourably). Instead of it being sufficient for him to just be, he has to be something, with varied negative effects on his spiritual, mental, physical and social well-being. The medical profession has to guard against the reduction of their patients to economic units.
