Abstract
Urinary tract infection are common in children, and to avoid renal damage, the GP is in a unique position to be keenly suspicious (even at birth), to arrange the necessary consultation, to make an accurate diagnosis, to effect an appropriate treatment and thereafter provide good follow-up care. Guidelines to all these are provided.
