Abstract
Bronchial asthma is increasing in prevalence, severity and mortality. The GP should take time to explain fully to his patient the nature of his disease, the objectives of the treatment, and the meaning of good control. Recent advances in pharmacologial management are evaluated and a few relevant studies explained.
