Abstract
The GP, like any other mortal, is at risk for many diseases, often at a higher risk than the general population. Yet, how often do we go for 'check-ups'? Many of us tend to consult colleages telephonically or when we have social contact. Doctoring doctors can be very anxiety-provoking which in turn can influence the doctor-patient relationship, often to the detriment of the patients's true health needs. A survey carried out amongst doctors of the South African Academy of Family Practice/Primary Care is presented and implications for the doctor-patient relationship are discussed.
