Abstract
Family Practitioners are in an important position to enhance the health of their adolescent patients. To do this effectively they need to prepare themselves adequately for this task. The crises of adolescence are briefly examined, and then an approach to adolescent counselling is described and discussed. A particular experience of an open, experiential discussion with a group of teenagers and the personal growth obsessed in the group, is reported, and presented as a model for GPs, also in their consulting rooms. It is hoped that this article will stimulate further thought and attention to this important area.
