Rural Practice
Abstract
There is now said to be an excess of general practitioners in the major metropolitan areas of this country which equals and even betters the doctor population ratio in some of the more developed Western Countries. 40% of the country's doctors reside in Johannesburg and Cape Town where only 11% of the population live.l The latter has a ratio of one doctor to every 400 people.
