Abstract

Prescribing Sir William Osler was quoted as saying that one difference between humans and animals was the great extent to which humans take medicines. This was confirmed by Kohn R and White KL in their class study Health Care: an International Study (Oxford University Press). They found that at any time two thirds of people are taking medicines - one third prescribed and one third self-medication.
