Abstract
Sexually transmitted infections have finally achieved the status of being one of our major health care priorities. For many years now STDs have been one of the most common presenting problems in primary clinical care services in South Africa. In primary care clinics, especially in low resource areas, upwards of 25% of attending adults have conditions attributable to STDs.
