Abstract
Alcohol is, or has become, a major problem, for the individual and the community. Literature about this subject can be found in the medical press,' as well as in the popular press. Unfortunately textbooks are often superficial or sometimes only highlighting one aspect' or approach and are rarely conclusive and practical,s especially for rural, black South African situations. The abundance of theories related to alcohol, the problems and the therapy thereof, makes it difficult to work this into a practical and personal application.
