Abstract

Although there is now widespread acceptance of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) as a distinctive syndrome, there is less certainty regarding its pathophysiology. As a result of the lack of obvious physical findings and absence of investigational abnormalities, many patients were formedy diagnosed as having "psychogenic rheumatism".
