Sports Medicine: The Collapsed Endurance Athlete: A practical approach
Abstract
EXERCISE ASSOCIATED COLLAPSE There is confusion in the literature over the diagnosis of exercise associated collapse,that revolves essentially around the following two concepts: either 1. Any condition that causes collapse during exercise. or 2. Collapse that cannot be attributed to a readily identifiable medical cause, such as heart attack or heatstroke. For the purposes of this dissertation the following definition has been adopted.
