Parkinson's Disease diagnosis and current management options
Abstract
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder, with an insidious onset and slow progression over time. The causes of PD are still largely unknown but genetic factors' as well as environmental factor are thought to be important. There is no diagnostic test available for making the diagnosis of PD. Knowledge of the clinical signs and skill in detecting them are therefore of extreme importance to make an early and accurate diagnosis of this condition. PD affects more than one in a thousand people in the United States and occurs in as many as 1 in 100 persons over the age of 60.
